Nanocomp Technologies Expands Executive Team with Two Key Hires

William Schmidt and David Gailus Join as CFO and Vice President of Engineering, Respectively

CONCORD, N.H.— June 16, 2009Nanocomp Technologies, Inc., a developer of energy-saving performance materials and component products from carbon nanotubes (CNTs), today announced two new additions to its executive team: William J. Schmidt joins as Chief Financial Officer and David Gailus becomes Vice President of Engineering.

With the expansion of its leadership team, Nanocomp will significantly accelerate its work to scale-up the manufacture of CNT sheet and yarn products for key aerospace and defense applications, including lightweight electrical components and next-generation body armor for U.S. servicemen and women.

“Bill is an experienced senior financial executive with an extensive background in financial operations and business strategy, having worked in both entrepreneurial and large multi-national corporations,” said Peter Antoinette, President and CEO of Nanocomp. “Dave is an accomplished MIT trained engineer with significant expertise in scaling processes into world-class manufacturing operations where his work has resulted in 19 U.S. patents. The addition of these two talented, outstanding leaders underscores that we are at an inflection point in our company’s development, and we look forward to their contributions in helping grow our business and manufacturing capability to the next level of maturity.”

Prior to Nanocomp, Schmidt was a partner in the financial leadership practice at Tatum LLC and has served in senior level financial positions at several leading-edge technology companies including IBIS Technology and Phillips Corporation. He holds an M.B.A. from Fairleigh Dickinson University and a B.S. in Finance and a B.A. in Political Science from West Virginia University. He is a member of Financial Executives International and the National Association of Corporate Directors.

Gailus graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and has held various senior positions in Engineering and Operations management for the past 25 years. Prior to joining Nanocomp, Gailus was employed by Aavid Thermalloy and Teradyne Connection Systems.
