OUR FOCUS: REVOLUTIONIZING PERFORMANCE - SAVING ENERGY

Population and economic growth continually spurs demand for energy. For example, world energy demand is forecast to double from 14 terawatts used in 2000 to 28 terawatts by 2050. In addition, the recent surge in the price of oil appears to signal a permanent upwards adjustment in the base price for petroleum creating significant ongoing worldwide economic implications.

These factors, along with environmental concerns such as pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, add impetus to finding new ways to immediately conserve energy, and over the longer term, find innovative alternative methods for energy production, storage, and distribution.

NCTI’s platform technology has the potential to reduce energy consumption in two manners:

Indirectly: This will occur by revolutionarily improving performance. NCTI’s CNTs will help create extremely strong, very lightweight structural composites used to produce highly fuel-efficient performance aircraft and automobiles. In addition, the technology will also improve human performance, such as reducing the energy and effort required to carry protective body armor or first-responder equipment and will even be used in performance recreational sporting goods.

Directly: This will occur through the replacement of heavy metal conductors, creating highly efficient, ultra-light wires for antennas in wireless devices, conductors for electronic interconnects, power transfer, motors, transformers and electro-storage devices. In addition, there is the potential to create new thermal management systems will more effectively reduce heat buildup in electronics.
